All residential development in the ACT requires the payment of the following fees and levies:
Building Levies: A building levy applies to work that requires building approval.
Training Levies: The training levy was introduced by the Building and Construction Industry Training Levy Act 1999. The purpose of the levy is to provide funds to train apprentices, trainees and older workers in the construction industry. The Building and Construction Industry Training Council are involved in deciding how the money is spent. The training levy applies to all building work greater than a threshold value.
WorkCover Safety fees: The notice of intention fee applies to all building work which is greater than threshold values relating to the type of building being constructed.
