The Falls and Falls Injury Prevention Program is aimed at maintaining mobility, muscle strength, good balance and quality of life for the older adult over 65 years or in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander over 55 years of age.
Falls in the older age group cause a high rate of serious injury such as fractures, bruising and wounds, resulting in hospital admission. Falls also have other detrimental effects such as a fear of falling which discourages older person to mobilize as much as previously.
