Credit provider registration

Individuals and companies must register with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in order to operate as a credit provider in the ACT. There is no provision for registration of a partnership. A registered credit provider must not provide consumer credit in partnership with a person who is not registered as a credit provider. This means that all partners to a partnership would must be registered as individuals.

A number of forms are required when lodging a licence application, all of which are included in the application package. Police record checks and other documents supporting the application are also required.
