Long service leave is additional leave given to an employee who has worked in the same industry for 10 or more years. In the ACT the Long Service Leave Scheme is administered by the ACT Long Service Leave Authority. The Authority records employees' service with each employer and collects a levy from the employer. The Authority invests these levies and uses accumulated funds to pay the employee Long Service Leave when they have accumulated 10 years of service.
The Authority is unable to credit an employee in the cleaning industry with any service unless the employee has lodged a registration form.
For more information visit the ACT Long Service Leave Authority website.
