Under the Water Resources Act 2007, the owner or occupier of land must obtain a bore work licence before commencing bore work on that land, including the drilling of a new bore or the replacement, deepening, enlargement or reconditioning of an existing bore.
Before a licence can be issued the applicant must hold a and a licence to take water and a water access entitlement of a volume of water at least equivalent to the licensed volume required.
